Welcome...and
thank you for taking your time to visit us at TheArtSeen.com.
We have gathered together and pooled our talents so that we might build a beautiful,
safe and effective environment which supports and promotes fresh, authentic
creative voices.
The Internet is a tool which, can be used to empower us all that we may hear
what might otherwise go unheard beneath the roar generated by the sheer immensity
of the world today...
and it is what we use.
That authentic creative voice is what you will hear, see and feel here at TheArtSeen.com.
Our company
was started by a group of artists and creatives in order to better serve creative
culture, art lovers and other artists everywhere. By working to support and
contribute to these groups, we feel that we are contributing to the enrichment of a world that we will find joy in living in.
We have focused our efforts on building not just a beautiful, professional and effective
website, but also one which is free from much of the pretense so prevalent in the art
world. Pretense, we feel, often stifles true creativity.
Please feel
free to browse through our collection. Be comfortable. You need know nothing
about art or a particular piece, but that you like it.
If you would like assistance on selecting a piece or need more information please
contact us at any time.
We wish to
do our part in opening doors for authentic creative voices whose contributions
to our cultures, our societies and our lives might otherwise go undiscovered
and might even be squelched.
We are here, doing what we do, simply because we have recognized the importance of the opportunity which exists to support new
and emerging artistic talent and its contributions to our lives.
This is not to say that we do not also recognize, represent and support established artists
as well...for we do. In fact, we do our best to represent as wide a variety of contemporary artists and styles as is possible.
Being open to new artists allows us to have a very inclusive collection of works appealing to collectors everywhere.
It is just important to remember that many of the world’s most
renowned artists went largely unrecognized during their own lifetimes. How many
other important voices might be out there now?
Here at Theartseen.com you'll
find a wealth of original artworks and other craftwork including paintings, photographs,
sculpture, works on paper, stone, glass, pottery, metalwork, leather and jewelry.
You will also find plenty of in-depth information
regarding these arts and crafts, and the creative people behind these works.
Explore the "Unfiltered" area to go underground and
see the the raw face of today's artists. Be aware that in this area all art is
accepted for gallery display.
While in the main area of our site-the main
home page and connecting links, you will see a selected collection of works
from promising contemporary artists from around the world. Each piece in this
area is considered for quality, value and authenticity. We often work hand in
hand with these artists to support, nurture and develop the artists' creative
process and direction, as well as to present the artistic experience, and of course
the final product, for the art buyer.

Many galleries and print companies like to talk about their
panels of distinguished art educators and historians, critics etc...and though
this can be a good way of selecting art, it is also in many ways stifling to the
creative process. After all it was those very same art critics and educators
of the day who scoffed at Cezanne in his time.
The design of our website allows us to stay true to our philosophy
and use an open door policy so that a wide variety of creative people can have a place to
show their work. At the same time, we can offer our customers easy access to
different types, styles and levels of artwork and art expertise. The artwork
on the main area of the site, and in the various featured items areas, is selected
by our entire team, which includes the expertise of artists, art educators,
a writer, a historian, and an entrepreneur. Our voices as a group are tempered by
the fact that we all share TheArtSeen philosophy and appreciate the eyes, the hearts and
the voices of actual artists. We hope that you will find our approach
refreshing and vitally important in the recognition and selection of true art...and that it leads you to find the heart of true value.
Artists shown in the main area of our website must be selected
by us and installed by hand from the Unfiltered area.
There several criteria which we consider in making the decision as to whether
an artist is appropriate for display on our main site. Among these are the quality
and style of the artwork itself. We do carry many styles of artwork so most
important to us is the feel of the work. We ask ourselves - Does it carry an emotional or other
message and does it do this well? We also take into consideration the artists
themselves. How consistently does the artist produce work?
What kind of of work has the artist done, and is it of consistent quality? This is not
our primary concern as we love to work with and support new and emerging artists,
many of whom have never even had a showing of their work! In fact, check out
our up and coming not-for-profit children's art program. There you can see some of the truest
art there is. It is amazing what children produce.
You can break down the criteria for display in the main site
area into these basic categories:
The art should contain all, or some, of the prerequisites of quality original art: originality; understanding of composition, color, design, texture, pattern and form, imagination, personal expression, inventiveness, deft handling of techniques and an understanding of materials.
The artist should take what they do seriously enough to respect it.
We look at the artist's history...even if it a short one. This includes any gallery showings, sales history, education, etc. the artist may have.
We also look at the artist's consistency and level of production. Prolific artists stand a good chance of gaining our support.
This is all extremely flavored by the simplest and most important
quality we feel that art has, and that is the FEELING of the
piece. Art is art because of how it makes us feel, not because of a name attached to the piece.
This is one primary difference between theartseen and other art sales venues
which we value.
It is all about the art...not the
pretense!
We accept all artists in our “unfiltered” area.
Here artists can show and sell their work free from judgment and here they can
receive the encouragement and support which art truly deserves.
Much of the artwork on our main site comes from artists who
initially displayed their work here. Our staff surfs through the archives of
the unfiltered area looking for talent. Upon recognizing a possible artist for
inclusion in the main site our staff goes through an extensive interview process
with the artist. This process is covered in the criteria above.
